Weldability differences between Al/Si5% and Al/Mg5% wires.
Al/Si5% wire compared to Al/Mg5% wire has better weldability characteristics. It produces weld seams with improved aesthetics, smoother surfaces and a lower amount of spray.
The Al/Si5% wire is softer than the Al/Mg5% wire. Generally, wire feed is a minor problem when using Al/Mg5%, which is stiffer.
 
Main application
– Solid aluminium wire with 5% Si. Suitable for welding Al-Si 2-7% alloys, and Al-Mg-Si alloys. It is used in the construction of structures for architectonic uses, trailer-truck bodies, tanks and casting repair.
